    Attorney Merve Çavuşoğlu practices at the Istanbul office of the Law Offices of Metin Serbest, focusing on administrative disputes, human rights law, and immigration and asylum law.

    She earned her law degree with honors from Ankara University. During her undergraduate studies, she spent a year at Utrecht University through the Erasmus exchange program, where she pursued courses in human rights and comparative law.

    She subsequently completed a master’s degree with high honors at Ankara University’s Department of Public Law, where her thesis examined the European Court of Human Rights’ case law on administrative (immigration) detention practices.
    Awarded the prestigious Jean Monnet Scholarship by the European Commission, she later obtained a second master’s degree in European and International Human Rights Law at Leiden University, graduating with honors. Her thesis explored the use of social media as a tool for activism in combating violence against women.

    Since 2017, Attorney Çavuşoğlu has worked as a lawyer, legal advisor, and senior project officer at various civil society organizations in Turkey. She has delivered training to bar associations on refugee law, deportation proceedings, administrative detention, and asylum applications, and has conducted online seminars on similar topics.
    She has also pursued strategic litigation before national and international bodies, including the Constitutional Court of Turkey and the European Court of Human Rights.

    Registered with the Ankara Bar Association, Attorney Çavuşoğlu is an active member of the Refugee Rights Center, Social Litigation and Legal Research Center, and Women’s Rights Center.
    She remains deeply engaged in rights-based initiatives, volunteering her expertise in the fields of women’s, children’s, and refugee rights.

    She speaks Turkish and is fluent in English.
