    Eligibility Requirements

    To qualify, you must:

    1. Be internationally recognized for outstanding achievements in a specific academic field;
    2. Have at least three years of experience in teaching or research; and
    3. Be entering the U.S. to accept a tenure or tenure-track teaching or permanent research position at a:
      • S. institution of higher education, or
      • Private employer with at least three full-time researchers and a proven record of research excellence.

     Evidence Requirements (2 of 6)

    You must provide at least two of the following:

    1. Major prizes or awards for outstanding achievement
    2. Membership in associations requiring exceptional achievement
    3. Published material written by others about your work
    4. Participation as a judge of the work of others
    5. Original scientific or scholarly research contributions
    6. Authorship of scholarly books or articles in internationally circulated journals

    Employer Sponsorship

    A U.S. employer must file Form I-140 on your behalf and demonstrate:

    • The offer of a permanent teaching or research position, and
    • The ability to pay the offered wage using annual reports, tax returns, or audited financial statements.
    • No labor certification (PERM) is required for EB-1B petitions.
