

Law Clerk
Azar Naghiyev is a Law Clerk at the Chicago office of the Law Offices of Metin Serbest, where he focuses on immigration and international law. Since joining the firm in 2022, he has assisted clients in complex legal matters, drawing on his extensive experience across both domestic and international cases.
He earned his LL.B. from Baku State University and his LL.M. from Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2022. Admitted to the Azerbaijani Bar Association in 2009, Azar has successfully handled cases in international, civil, criminal, and immigration law, including numerous victories before the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Azar is an active member of several leading international legal organizations, including the European Association of Lawyers for Democracy and World Human Rights (ELDH), the European Association of Lawyers (AEA-EAL), the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA), and the International Bar Association (IBA). He is among the select few lawyers who have completed the EU and Council of Europe Training for Trainers Program, and he serves as a certified tutor on the Council of Europe HELP online platform.
An accomplished author, Azar has published multiple books and scholarly articles in recognized legal journals and trade publications. His deep legal expertise, combined with a practical and solution-oriented approach, allows him to deliver effective and informed advocacy in every matter he handles.
He is fluent in Azerbaijani, English, Turkish, and Russian.
